Len de Gans
P.Eng, B.Sc. Mechanical
Founder of Rally Engineering in 2006, Len graduated with B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 from the University of Alberta. Prior to starting Rally Engineering, Len worked for many years in industry for various oil and gas operating companies; Dome Petroleum, Amoco, BPCO and after 5yrs moved into consulting with various EPCM firms providing Project Management, Project Engineering and Mechanical/Piping Engineering on large multi-discipline projects ranging in size from $15 Million to $1 Billion. Today Len is our General Manager and President responsible for the day to day operations of Rally Engineering insuring we invest in the right people and utilize fit for purpose systems/procedures to deliver quality products and services at competitive rates. Len is primarily responsible for managing, directing and leading the senior management team which is comprised of HSE Manager, Engineering Manager, Manager of Projects, and Business Development and Support Services (HR, Accounting, Legal, IT and Project Services).
P.Eng., B.Sc. Mechanical, PMP
Gord has extensive experience building and leading high performance EPC teams as a project manager and project engineer. He has an excellent record of delivering projects on time and within budget, while maintaining strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving. With his combination of analytical, technical, and engineering qualifications, Gord’s strength is in managing time-sensitive projects for clients that demand a high level of management control and accountability. As an accomplished leader of the many multi-disciplinary project teams he has had the honor to drive, Gord is highly motivated and achievement-oriented.
P.Eng., B.Sc. Mechanical, PMP
Greg Enslen has over 19 years of experience in department and project management as well as design and field engineering. His vast knowledge in leading multi-discipline teams have allowed him to manage a variety of project sizes (from less than $1M to greater than $500M). Greg’s expertise in technical support/coordination and inspection/construction coordination enable him to guide Rally’s projects teams through until completion with confidence and ease.
P.Eng., B.Sc. Mechanical
Rade is a mechanical engineer with over 24 years of experience in engineering design, supervision, and project management. He is an active participant in the development of all engineering deliverables related to equipment design and procurement, material selection diagrams, plot plans, preliminary piping layouts, and preparation of engineering construction work packages (CWPs). Rade’s expertise also includes planning, executing, and directing small engineering projects to ensure compliance with all regulations affecting construction.
P.L. (Eng.) Piping
Darcy has over 20 years of experience in engineering management, design engineering, and field construction support from both the oil and gas & petrochemical industries. Darcy is a principle piping designer and project engineer knowledgeable in the preparation of equipment, piping, and plant layouts. He is versed in a variety of 3D platforms such as SmartPlant 3D, PDS, MicroStation and AutoCAD. His demonstrated ability in pipe support design, and his expertise with preliminary stress requirements on piping systems, make him a strong team leader with excellent management and mentoring skills.
P.Eng., B.Sc. Process
With over 20 years of experience as a senior process engineer, Sheila’s expertise in analytical problem-solving lends itself well to Rally’s multi-disciplinary and team-oriented environment. Her demonstrated ability to assess, design, and implement solutions for, a wide range of production issues (from scoping studies to DBM/EDS) enables her to provide detailed engineering on small and large projects alike. Sheila’s experience in a variety of industries, such as oil sands, oil upgrading and refining, pharmaceuticals, metals refining, and chemicals, allows her to develop and design new industrial processes as well as modify existing ones.
P.Eng., Ph.D. Civil Structural
With over 34 years of experience in structural design and department management, Brendan O’Flynn holds a wide range of proven qualifications. His experience in the diverse fields of industrial, oil and gas, commercial, and municipal enables him to lead as Rally’s most senior structural engineer. Not only is he versed in structural design, modification, reinforcement, and extension of facilities, but he is also knowledgeable in the evaluation of existing structures, computer analysis, field construction review, investigative engineering, and report preparation. As the head of Rally’s civil structural engineering department, Brendan is responsible for the technical performance, development, and retention of department personnel.
P. Eng., B.Sc. Electrical
Sang has over 19 years of experience as an electrical engineer, and uses his vast knowledge in multi-discipline engineering and department management to lead a variety of teams. He has broad experience in conceptual engineering, front-end engineering design (FEED), and detailed design on a wide range of project sizes. Sang’s electrical engineering design experience is diverse in the areas of oil, gas, mining, oil sands, petrochemical, pump stations, and commercial industries.
P.L. (Eng.) Instrumentation
Alan has 12 years of experience in the oil, gas, energy, and pipeline sectors, in the diverse areas of heavy equipment environments, extreme weather conditions, and offshore drilling. He demonstrates a proven ability to provide leadership and coordination to team members and field contractors. His experience with all phases of projects from concept to commissioning in a variety of environments (brownfield and greenfield) enables him to regularly meet project milestones.
Darrell has more than 20 years of experience as a senior piping designer in sustaining capital projects and specific execution strategies related to them. His diverse experience in the oil sands, refining, and petrochemical industries has shaped him to be flexible and focused in meeting client expectations. Darrell is versed in leading his teams from front-end development, into detailed design, through to assisting field during construction.
Tara has nearly two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, and manages document control activities on small to million-dollar projects. She specializes in mentoring, leading, and supervising her staff in Rally’s TDC department.
Darren is acutely experienced in all facets of project controls. As Rally’s Manager of Project Controls, Darren brings expertise in estimating, cost control, planning/scheduling for maintenance and turnaround to the table. He is knowledgeable in various project controls software including InControl, Oracle, Prediction Plus, SAP, Microsoft Projects, Primavera, TASC Shutdown Planner, CASP Shutdown Planning, and JD Edwards. Darren’s successful development and implementation of project controls and corporate procedures in the energy industry make him invaluable to Rally and our clients.
Sheryll has over 13 years of supply chain and contracts management experience in the oil and gas industry. As Rally’s Procurement and Contracts Manager, Sheryll is a seasoned negotiator and strategic planner. Her background in sourcing, vendor management, quality assurance, project management, and logistics allow her to easily meet the needs of the variety of large-scale multi-million dollar EPC contracts she is responsible for. She is very knowledgeable in ERP systems such as SAP and Convero. Sheryll’s proven ability to achieve cost savings through successful price negotiations and purchase agreements make her an incredible asset to Rally and our clients.
Dan has amassed over 30 years of experience providing quality management, quality assurance, quality control, inspection, design engineering, and construction management services. He has worked in a variety of industries, including oil refineries, chemical plants, gas processing facilities, power generation plants, oil sands plants, pipelines and pump stations, and mining and mineral refining facilities. As Rally’s Quality Assurance Advisor, Dan’s role is to design, implement, and lead quality control programs on construction and fabrication projects, as well as for audits of refinery onsite construction projects.
