Value Engineering

Rally, being the site’s brownfield engineering firm, was requested to complete a Value Engineering exercise to evaluate the existing foundations and structural elements of the highline to support the new tier and 36” cable trays.

Scope of Work

1. Rally reviewed the laser scan, existing drawings, a field verification report from a third party, and three separate Geotechnical Reports as the highline was built in phases over 50 years.

2. Rally completed an S-Frame model of the existing structure and determined the actual loadings using the laser scan and general site information.

3. The findings determined that the existing pile still had capacity and the structure itself could support the new loads with minimal cross member bracing. This resulted in the site not having to expend capital on a new highline system.
